BackBlogging, Roatan With The Millers

In April we went to Roatan to visit our friends Tiffany, Ralph and their daughter Max who were housesitting there for a year and a half.  The house belongs to one of the guys who founded Tetrapak and it is on a very remote part of Roatan, completely off the grid.  The bay of Port Royal is about the size of Utila's Bay, but there are just a handful of houses.  You can only get to there by boat.  Remote.

The Millers' boat, Daydream, and its captain, Ralph.

 The view from our room

Ralph, fixing the fridge in the caretaker's house.  Gussy and Max scaling furniture.

Tiffany in the background making something amazing to eat.  She kept doing that.

One of my favorite parts of the trip was when we explored an abandoned mansion nearby.

It reminded me of the castle in the Disney movie version of "Beauty and the Beast," and I felt like an animated candlestick might pop out at some point.

Goodbye kiss.

Max and her parents have since moved to Florida.  It has been months, and Bine still talks about her all the time.  For Bine's birthday Max sent her a magic wand, which Bine said she's going to put to use to get Max back here.
