The Impossible Happened
The summer Bine turned one we spent a few days in New York City. It was overwhelming, to put it mildly, coming from little Utila. At one point I decided it would be a great idea to go shopping at The Gap in Times Square. Not my brightest moment. We were so confused (along with feverish from the usual airplane bug) that I wasn't sure exactly what we were buying. JA and I, wide-eyed, just put stuff on the counter and whipped out the plastic. When we got back to our friend's house I peeked in the bag and found two of the same shirt, dotted with flowers, one for age three and one for age four. Three and four? That's an eternity away. I'm not even sure she'll ever be that big! Should we return them? JA shrugged and looked at me with a weary, metro-pummeled face. Neither of us could survive that. So the impossibly enormous tops came home with us.
