Costa Rica, Part Ten: Alajuela Yummies and Last Day in San Jose

After horseback adventure we kissed Socorro goodbye, punctured a tire on the crazy driveway (Pappa quickly put on the spare) and then drove back to Alajuela and the hotel where we spent our first night.

Found a bakery to indulge in some birthday yum.

Saturday morning, our last full day in Costa Rica, we woke up early and headed to the Alajuela farmers' market.  It starts on Friday afternoon and runs over night through Saturday, meaning that you can get fresh cane juice at 2 am if you please.

Gussy, checking out the cane juicer.

We basically ate our way through the market.  Produce yum.

Love the hood-hook.  Nice corralling, Pappa.

After breakfast and returning the rental car we went into San Jose to the Children's Museum.  It is in a very cool old building that used to be a barracks and then prison.  Kids and parents were highly entertained for hours.

Playing with Jacob's Ladder.  Pappa was most excited about
the magnets and electricity room, especially the Tesla coil.

A real helicopter on the grounds of the museum.
Also a real train, real airplane, real bottom-lit dance floor with real disco ball!
Not to mention an Egyptian room where Bine wore a pharaoh costume and I missed
a great opportunity to take a picture of the lad in a sarcophaGus.

 Archeologists, brushing fossils

Learning about the banana industry.  Here she's weighing the washed
bananas that she then put into crates to be shipped overseas.

The next morning we flew home.

Hasta Luego, Costa Rica.  Gracias!
