Costa Rica!

I am not exaggerating at all when I say that it couldn't have been any better.  I'm still a few feet above ground, total Costa Rica crush.

Let's start at the beginning:

We excitedly waited to board our airplane from Utila to San Pedro Sula for what seemed like an eternity.

Angie and Ruby stopped by to see the planes and say goodbye.
Ruby wasn't happy she couldn't tag along.

We talked to the pilot while the kids overtook the aircraft.  Gussy kept saying toe! toe! and we thought maybe he was referring to something on the plane but it turned out he was kind of uncomfortable.

Then, while trying to get on, we found out this wasn't our plane, so we had to wait in the little restaurant another 30 minutes or so.  Meanwhile Bine adopted an insect.  Not a unique event by any stretch, but this time it really seemed like the feeling was mutual and not just another case of bug abuse.  It wouldn't leave her.

Finally we left (island and bug).  Smell ya later, Utila!

I have no idea what is wrong with her in this picture.  She's four, so it could be anything really.

We had a chunk of time to kill before the flight to San Jose so we went to Gran Hotel Sula to eat some lunch, make a reservation for the night of our return, and say hi to the dog statue in the lobby.

Catracho is a term that Hondurans use for themselves, and seeing a towhead running around with this t-shirt on is brakes-screeching-popular on the mainland.  Even more so when I explain that he is truly a compatriot.

Next CityMall where we did one of the many things we pitied parents for doing before the two of us actually had kids ourselves.  Then we went back to the airport.

It had been awhile since Bine was on a plane (a little over a year to be precise) so she was a bit rusty.  Wisely followed Pappa's lead and checked out the in-flight magazine.

Angus looked like this during each take-off.  He gets it from his mom.  Luckily this flight was a little over an hour, totally manageable with just two valium each.

I am supposed to email this picture to that immigration dude.

At our first hotel, near the airport.

Nice garden with lots of butterflies that Bine--true to her Viking/American heritage--immediately declared sovereignty over.

I claim this land and all of its six-legged savages in the name of Queen Bine!  Long live the Bean!
